A Family of Litigators: Daily Journal Features Brot∙Gross∙Fishbein∙LLP
Daily Journal sat down with the Brot∙Gross∙Fishbein∙LLP team to discuss the firm’s legacy and how changes in the law over the past decade have made family law more complicated, demanding the firm’s litigation skills. In 2005, Ronald F. Brot and Mark P. Gross joined forces to form Brot & Gross, and today, boasts 10 attorneys, including a recent addition Gary Fishbein as partner, changing the firms name to Brot∙Gross∙Fishbein∙LLP.
Daily Journal recognized that the firm was poised to take advantage of an explosion in family law litigation – most of which resulted from the Elkins Commission’s effort to implement a court order requiring family law cases be subject to the same procedural rules as civil trials.
The firm’s mission is to help clients find light at the end of the tunnel and start a new chapter in their lives. “Family law has a red-headed stepchild stigma to it,” said Fishbein. “But the need for good family lawyers who know how to litigate is pertinent not just in the courthouse but in the community as a whole.” Gross adds, “Our works gives us a chance to guide our clients toward the right path.”
Partner Elise Greenberg was recruited to the firm because of her experience with minors in the Los Angeles Country Department of Children and Family Court. “We see all cases from a child’s point of view in a divorce or custody,” Greenberg said.
Daily Journal also highlighted Brot becoming President of the Los Angeles County Bar Association in June 2019. He is the first lawyer from the San Fernando Valley and the third family lawyer in LACBA’s 141-year history to be President. Volunteering is integral to the firm and a mantra Brot learned from his parents.
